The best lipstick I’ve tried hands down.
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Poppy Power is a lipstick with a statement. Expect great coverage, decent longevity, the right amount of creaminess and so much pizzazz. Beware, this lipstick is highly addictive.
I remember thinking about not purchasing this lipstick – although it was on sale, it seemed as just another red lippie, and I have a lot of reds. I bought S&G as there was something special about it. The packaging design, the name – every other lipstick in the drugstore faded in comparison.
Lip balm in disguise
Soap & Glory offers 24 vegan-friendly moisturizing shades in range of reds, nudes, and pinks with three finishes – matte, satin, and high shine.
I kid you not when I say that this lipstick will make you happier than any dessert.
Poppy Power is a candy red with a high shine finish. Red like summertime happiness and maraschino cherries.
The formula is balmy and soft, with some serious staying power and semi-sheer coverage. I couldn’t achieve full-on opacity even after two or more layers.
Also, it smells so good – the scent of vanilla or chocolate is pleasant and not that strong. And it’s so moisturizing, it almost makes you wonder if Poppy Power is a lip balm and not a lipstick.
It’s not about the shade, it’s about the formula
The wear time is what surprised me the most.
The lipstick wore well for complete three hours. After that, the glossy shine was almost gone, but the creamy feel was still there and it left a stain that lasted for a long time.
Glossy finish and creamy texture means this lipstick is transferable, but it doesn’t feather or smudge over time. At all.
This lipstick will never go on patchy or streaky, so you’re safe. It will start to fade on the inner lip if you eat or drink though, but only ever so slightly.
Another important thing – Poppy Power is very forgiving. You can easily fix any mistake. One stroke and that’s it! You don’t have to prep your lips as it’s not drying, no harsh outline, no need for lip liner. Very comfortable to wear.
That is why I love Poppy Power so much and why I prefer it for special occasions over some more expensive long-lasting lipsticks.
And if the shade or the formula didn’t win you over…
This is some boss packaging
The packaging is luxurious. Why not to have a beautiful shade, a great texture and a high-end packaging in one product?
The metallic red case is made of thick plastic and it’s very heavy with a fine click sound of an expensive product when you close the cap.
A lipstick for everyone
Sexy Mother Puckers are lipsticks with an attitude. It is a balm, a lipstick and a lip stain in one. Perfect if you want an easy way to look put together and like a natural look. Maybe people with fair skin would benefit the most from this timeless red, but it would look good on any skin tone.
Sexy Mother Pucker lipsticks can be purchased for £9.00 on Soap&Glory website, and you can also find them on Amazon. I got mine on sale for $4 in Boots in Bangkok. Is it worth the full price? Absolutely.
If you want a cult lipstick in your makeup bag that isn’t high-end but performs maybe even better, I recommend Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick in Poppy Power. Whether you’re a beginner to red lipsticks, or you want that nonchalant I’m-just-going-out-for-some-bagels three-minute lips, Poppy Power is for you.
